Crystal River Southern track plan
By Bill Miller
The 2009 HOn3 Annual presented a pleasing track plan from layout design expert Bill Miller. The concept of the Crystal River Southern was a struggling narrow gauge line running from Crystal (just east of Marble) to Baldwin, Colorado over Schofield Pass. Not only does the line battle steep terrain, but the D&RGW on one side and the C&S on the other. The line is designed to fit easily into a 10' by 12' spare bedroom, and not only offers great scenic possibilities, but also interesting operations using a card order system. The track plan is reproduced below as a downloadable PDF with some place name additions from the original plan in the Annual.
